Entitlements After Breast Surgery

HSE Entitlements Anyone who has undergone breast surgery will automatically be entitled to a first fit which includes two mastectomy bras, a breast prosthesis and one post op swimsuit all free of charge. If you are a Medical Card holder, you are entitled to two mastectomy bras, one post op swimsuit and one breast prosthesis every two years after your first fit, all free of charge. Which breast prosthesis will suit me best

Breast prosthesis come in different sizes, shape, weight and colour. They are used after breast surgery to replace tissue loss and provide shape post op. Initial Post-Surgery prostheses are soft to allow for wound healing while giving shape. After approximately 6-8 weeks a full prosthesis can be fitted. This allows for swelling to reduce in the chest area and for scars to heal.
